ANU staff and students will soon be able to access improved and expanded health and wellness services through health care provider the National Health Co-op (NHC).
The NHC operates eight medical clinics in the ACT and, commencing in semester two 2017, students and staff will be able to access their comprehensive range of primary health and wellness services including GPs and nursing. Mental Health services can also be accessed at the NHC and will provide additional support to the current ANU in-house counselling services.
Students and staff will have access to the NHC’s extended operating hours with some clinics opening late on weekday evenings and on weekends. The NHC’s clinics are located around Canberra’s suburbs making it easy for many of our non-residential students and staff to access quality health care close to home. These services will all be offered under bulk billing arrangements meaning there will be no out of pocket expenses for students.
Membership of the NHC is available for ANU staff for either $10 per month or $100 annually. Discounted membership is also available to staff with a concession card. Membership will enable staff and their children aged up to 17 years access to the NHC’s services including bulk-billed primary health care and allied health services such as exercise physiology, diabetes education and dietetics.
From the beginning of 2019 a new health and wellness centre will be opened on campus in the Union Court redevelopment, and will be operated by the NHC.
In the near future we’ll be able to offer an expanded range of health care services like psychology, sports medicine, podiatry, diabetes education and speech pathology along with GP services, nursing, nurse practitioners and physiotherapy.
